Bodil Margrethe Svendsen , née Thirstedt , (born November 4, 1916 in Copenhagen ) is a former Danish canoeist .
Svendsen won a bronze medal in a single kayak and a two-man kayak at the canoe racing world championships in Vaxholm in 1938 . In 1948 she became world champion in two-person kayaks over 500 m with Karen Hoff . At the Olympic Games in 1952 , the starter of the Kastrup Kajak Klub finished fifth in a single kayak. She was married to the canoeist Axel Svendsen (1912–1995).
