The 5th Canoe Racing World Championships took place in 1958 in Prague ( Czechoslovakia ).

Medals were awarded in 16 disciplines of canoe racing: four canoeing and nine kayaking competitions for men and two kayaking competitions for women. The Soviet Union took part in canoe racing world championships for the first time.
