Jochen Urban

Jochen Urban (born September 23, 1983 in Krefeld ) is a German oarsman. In 2005 he won bronze at the world championships with eighth place .

Jochen Urban starts for the Crefelder RC . The junior world champion took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, but with the four-man without a helmsman he missed the final and finished seventh as the winner of the B final. In the following year Urban rowed in the Germany eighth , the eighth won the Henley Royal Regatta and finished third at the World Championships in Gifu . In 2006 Urban started together with Andreas Penkner in two without a helmsman and finished fifth at the World Championships in Eton . After Urban became German champion in two without a helmsman for the third time in a row in 2008, he and his partner Sebastian Schmidt moved into Germany eighth for the Olympic Games in Beijing, where eighth came last in the preliminary and intermediate runs. Since July 2011 he has been married to the swimmer and Olympic medal winner Anne Poleska .

Jochen Urban was a member of the Bundeswehr sports promotion group.
