Andreas Penkner (born November 29, 1982 in Radolfzell on Lake Constance ) is a German oarsman. In 2005 he won the world championship bronze with eighth .

Life

Andreas Penkner starts for the Undine Radolfzell rowing club . Penkner was a successful rower in the under 23 age group, where he won two silver medals and one gold medal at the world championships. In 2004 he went to the Olympic Games in Athens as a substitute . In 2005 Penkner moved up as a batsman in the Germany eighth and won the Henley Royal Regatta in addition to the World Championship bronze . After two years in two without a helmsman , Penkner started again in Germany eighth in 2008. Together with Matthias Flach , Florian Mennigen and Kristof Wilke he was placed in the four without a helmsman and immediately took bronze at the first Rowing World Cup in Munich in 2008. Through his performance in the 2008 season he qualified for the Olympic team of the Germany eight. At the Olympic Games, the eighth place in Germany retired prematurely after finishing last in the pre-run and hope run and took last place in the B final.
