James Christian Foad (born March 20, 1987 in Southampton ) is a retired British rower . In 2012 he won the Olympic bronze medal in eighth place .

Career

Foad started at the Junior World Championships in 2005 and finished seventh in the four with helmsman. In 2009 Foad finished eighth in the first World Cup regatta and finished third in the U23 World Championships in 2009, together with Mohamed Sbihi, and finished eighth in two without a helmsman. In 2010 both won the first World Cup regatta with eighth, but without the Germany eighth . At the World Championships in New Zealand , the British received the silver medal behind the Germans, just like a year later at the 2011 World Championships in Bled .

In the 2012 Olympic season, the British eighth took second place twice and came third once, at the Olympiaregatta in Eton the British eighth took third place behind the Germans and Canadians. For the 2013 season , three rowers, Alex Gregory , Peter Reed and Andrew Triggs Hodge, moved from the British four to eight, which won the first two World Cup regattas. Foad was only a member of the eighth in the first regatta. At the rowing world championships in Chungju , Foad started together with Oliver Cook in two without a helmsman and finished in seventh place. In 2014 Foad returned to eighth and finished third at the 2014 European Rowing Championships in Belgrade. At the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, Foad rowed together with Matt Langridge in an uncontrolled twos and won silver behind New Zealanders Eric Murray and Hamish Bond . Foad won his first international title at the European Championships in 2015 when he and Matt Langridge won in a pair. At the 2015 World Championships , as in the previous year, they both won silver behind the two New Zealanders.
