Josh West

A. Joshua "Josh" West (born March 25, 1977 in Santa Fe Springs ) is a British rower .

Career

Born in the United States, Josh West began rowing at Yale University . In 1998 he moved to the University of Cambridge in England . From 1999 to 2002 he competed for Cambridge in the Boat Race , in 1999 and 2001 his boat won the race.

From 2001 the 2.07 m tall member of the Leander Club also belonged to the British national rowing team. At the 2001 World Championships , he finished fifth with the British eighth . In 2002 he switched to the four without a helmsman , together with Steve Williams , Toby Garbett and Rick Dunn he won the silver medal behind the German boat at the 2002 World Championships . In 2003 the British foursome reached second place behind the Canadians with the same line-up. At the 2004 Olympics , Josh West sat in the British eighth, who finished ninth.

At the World Championships in 2005 and 2006 West also came in eighth and finished fourth and fifth, respectively. It wasn't until 2007 in Munich that the British eighth won a medal again behind Canadians and Germans. In his last major race at the 2008 Olympics , Josh West won the silver medal behind the Canadians with the British eighth.
