Camelia Gabriela Lupașcu (born July 29, 1986 in Dorohoi , Romania ) is a Romanian rower . She is eight times European champion and was an Olympian for Romania.

Career

Lupașcu began rowing in 2002 and was able to collect his first international successes relatively quickly in the following year. In two participations in the Junior World Championships, she achieved a gold medal in the quadruple scull (2003) and a silver medal in the single (2004). From the 2005 season she qualified for the strongly rejuvenated Romanian women's eighth and won the silver medal with him at the World Rowing Championships . In the following year, the eight was not powerful, and then Lupaşcu first had to give way to the double fours. This reached a 2nd place at the European Rowing Championships 2007 and 8th place at the World Championships in the same year.

In the 2008 Olympic season, Lupaşcu initially had a place in eighth at the European Championships , but lost it again until the Beijing Games a few months later. She therefore only won one European Championship title in 2008. In 2009 and 2010 she was the regular of the women's eighth, who won two European Championship titles and two World Championship medals during this time. Lupaşcu started in these years in addition to the eighth also in the two without a helmsman together with Nicoleta Albu , and won two more European titles and a World Cup silver medal in this class.

In 2011 and 2012 she didn’t row eighth, but with her partner Nicoleta Albu she won two more European Championship titles in two-without and two European championship bronze medals in double fours. At the Olympic Games in London she was back in eighth place and finished fourth. At the European Rowing Championships in 2013 , another European title followed in eighth.

With eight European Championship titles, Lupașcu is one of the most successful participants in this event. So far, however, she has not been able to achieve a world title or an Olympic medal.

Lupașcu starts for the association Dimano Bucharest CS . At a height of 1.84 m, her competition weight is around 70 kg.
