Nicoleta Albu (born August 10, 1988 in Brăila , Romania ) is a Romanian rower . She is a seven-time European champion and an Olympian for Romania.

Career

Albu was able to achieve first international success in three participations in the Junior World Championships from 2004 to 2006, where she won three medals. At the Junior World Championships in 2006 , she won the bronze medal in two without a helmsman . In the first year of the senior age group, she won a bronze medal at the newly introduced European Rowing Championships 2007 in Poznan together with Adelina Cojocariu . In 2008 and 2009 she started in the U23 area and won two titles at the world championships in this age group. At the same time, she was also the main force of the Romanian women's eighth in the open age group, who won two European Championship titles and two World Cup medals in 2009 and 2010. Albu started in these years in addition to the eighth also in the two without a helmsman together with Camelia Lupaşcu , and won two more European titles and a World Championship silver medal in this class.

In 2011 and 2012, she did not row eighth, but with her partner Camelia Lupașcu she won two more European Championship titles in two-without and two European championship bronze medals in double fours. At the Olympic Games in London she was back in eighth place and finished fourth. At the European Rowing Championships in 2013 and 2014 , two further European championships followed in eighth place, and at the 2013 World Rowing Championships two silver medals in eighth and two without a helmsman .

With seven European Championship titles, Albu is one of the most successful participants in this event. So far, however, she has not been able to achieve a world title or an Olympic medal.

Albu starts for the club Olimpia Bucharest CS . At a height of 1.83 m, her competition weight is around 76 kg.
