Helen Tanger (born August 22, 1978 in Hardenberg ) is a former Dutch rower who won two Olympic medals in eighth .

Tangier only started rowing in 1997. Her first participation in major international championships ended with eighth place at the 2001 World Championships in Lucerne, when she drove to second place in the B final in the Dutch eighth. In 2002 she sat with Froukje Wegman in two without a helmsman , who only finished 14th at the World Championships. In 2003 Helen Tanger switched to the four without a helmsman , in which she finished second at the World Cup in Lucerne together with Sarah Siegelaar , Laura Posthuma and Annemarieke van Rumpt . The boat also won the silver medal at the World Championships in Milan. In 2004 she returned to the Dutch eighth and took third place behind the boats from Romania and the United States by boat at the 2004 Athens Olympics. At the 2005 World Championships in Gifu, the Dutch eighth won bronze again, this time behind the Australians and Romanians. In 2007 Helen Tanger started together with Nienke Kingma as a two-man without and achieved ninth place at the 2007 World Rowing Championships . In 2008 Tanger and Kingma were back in the eight. After two fourth places in the 2008 World Cup, the eighth in the Olympic final in Beijing achieved a rather surprising second place behind the Americans and ahead of the Romanians.
