Michelle Guerette

Michelle Guerette (born October 6, 1980 in Bristol , Connecticut ) is a former American rower . In 2008 she won the Olympic silver medal in singles .

The 1.80 m tall Guerette won gold in the four-man team at the U23 World Championships in 2000 without a helmsman . In 2001 she also took fourth place in an uncontrolled foursome at the World Championships in the adult class. Two years later she finished fifth at the World Championships in Milan with the US eighth .

In 2004 Michelle Guerette switched to scull rowing , and at the 2004 Olympic Games she rowed to fifth place with the double scull. In 2005 she started internationally for the first time in the single, at the World Championships in Gifu she won the bronze medal behind the Belarusian Ekaterina Karsten and the Czech Miroslava Knapková . After a fifth place at the 2006 World Championships, she won the bronze medal again in 2007 in Munich behind Ekaterina Karsten and behind Bulgarian Rumjana Nejkowa . At the end of her career, Guerette received the silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, half a second behind Nejkowa .
