Hot Patootie - Bless My Soul

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hot Patootie - Bless My Soul is the seventh song on The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack. The song is sung on the show by Eddie, a former delivery boy. It expresses Eddie's love for Saturday night life, rock 'n' roll and his former girlfriend. A choir of Transylvanians sings the background vocals; Phantoms perform this task in the stage play.

Eddie rides his motorcycle out of an oversized refrigerator, much to Columbia's surprise and delight, while Dr. Frank N. Furter stands protectively in front of his creature Rocky. At the end of the song, Eddie is met by Dr. Frank N. Furter killed with a pimple. Originally this song was intended for its author, Richard O'Brien . Jim Sharman convinced O'Brien to play the character Riff Raff instead of Eddie. Meat Loaf took on the role in the Los Angeles stage production in 1974, as well as in the 1975 film.

The song was also released on Meat Loaf's "Live Around the World" album. Cover versions are from the Californian band The Phenomenauts and Brian May . In the play, the song is also performed under the title “What Ever Happened to Saturday Night?”.
