Pascal Touron

Pascal André Jean Touron (* 22. May 1973 in Arcachon ) is a former French lightweight - rowers won two Olympic medals.

The 1.76 m Touron started for Union Sportive Aviron Gravelinoise . In 1991 he rowed at the Junior World Championships in double sculls , but only reached the B final. At the (unofficial) U23 World Championships in 1994 he took sixth place with the lightweight double scull, and in 1995 he came eighth with the lightweight double scull. He won his first adult medal at the 1996 World Championships in the lightweight quadruple scull when he received the bronze medal in this non-Olympic boat class. In 1997 he finished ninth in the Olympic boat class lightweight double sculls at the World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette . In the following year he reached sixth place at the World Championships in Cologne. Fifth place at the 1999 World Championships meant direct Olympic qualification. In the final of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney the Poles Tomasz Kucharski and Robert Sycz won ahead of the Italians Elia Luini and Leonardo Pettinari , a second and a half behind Touron and his partner Thibaud Chapelle won the bronze medal.

At the rowing world championships in 2001 Pascal Touron competed with the lightweight eighth and won his only world title. Touron also sat in a belt boat in 2002 , with the lightweight four-man without a helmsman he took sixth place at the 2002 World Championships . In 2003 he returned to the sculling boat and took eighth place at the 2003 World Championships with the lightweight quadruple scull . In 2004 Touron rowed together with Frédéric Dufour in the lightweight double sculls, at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens the two won the silver medal behind the defending champions Kucharski and Sycz.
