Thibaud Chapelle

Thibaud Chapelle (* 9. May 1977 in Bron ) is a former French lightweight - rowers , who in 2000 won an Olympic bronze medal.

The 1.75 m tall Chapelle took fourth place in the lightweight double scull at the (unofficial) U23 World Championships in 1996 , and a year later he won a bronze medal. In 1998 he formed a lightweight double scull with Pascal Touron , the two achieved sixth place at the World Championships in Cologne. Fifth place at the 1999 World Championships meant direct Olympic qualification. In the final of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney the Poles Tomasz Kucharski and Robert Sycz won ahead of the Italians Elia Luini and Leonardo Pettinari , a second and a half behind Touron and Chapelle won the bronze medal. At the 2001 World Championships , Chapelle competed with Fabrice Moreau and won bronze behind Italians and Poles. After a 15th place in the lightweight double sculls at the 2002 World Championships and an eighth place in the lightweight double sculls at the 2003 World Championships , Chapelle's international career ended.
