Dave Boyes

David "Dave" Michael Boyes (* 26. August 1964 in St. Catharines , Ontario ) is a former Canadian lightweight - rowers . He won an Olympic silver medal and a world title.

Career

At the 1985 World Championships , Boyes finished tenth with the Canadian lightweight eighth , followed by fourth in 1986 and sixth in 1987 .

Boyes only started again in 1992 in Montreal at world championships when he finished fourth with the lightweight eighth. In 1993 in Račice u Štětí , the Canadian lightweight eight won the title. At the 1994 World Championships , he took eighth place with Brian Peaker in the lightweight double scull . 1995 Brian Peaker, Jeffrey Lay , Dave Boyes and Gavin Hassett formed the Canadian lightweight four without a helmsman and finished fourth at the World Championships in Tampere . At the Olympic premiere of lightweight rowing in Atlanta in 1996, the Danes won with half a second ahead of the Canadians.

In 1999 Boyes returned again. He took part in the Pan American Games with the lightweight four without a helmsman , but missed the medal ranks. At the world championships in his hometown, he finished fourth with the lightweight eighth.

The 1.84 m tall Boyes was a firefighter by trade.
