Thirsty Ear
Thirsty Ear is an American music publisher that also produces and distributes sound carriers. It is based in Norwalk, California .
History and direction
Thirsty Ear was founded in the 1970s as a marketing company. It organized advertising campaigns for most of the music labels and worked among other things. a. with David Bowie , the Talking Heads and The Police . In 1990 Thirsty Ear became an independent music publisher with an affiliated label.
Thirsty Ear releases albums by artists from various genres, mainly free jazz , hip-hop and electronic music . It gained particular fame through the Blue Series series, which is coordinated by the well-known jazz pianist Matthew Shipp ( Good and Evil Sessions ). The albums released in this series are the result of collaboration between jazz musicians and representatives of hip-hop and electronic music.
