Mike Ladd (musician)

Michael C. Ladd (* in Boston ) is an American hip-hop musician (lecture, vocals, synthesizer, lyrics) who has also ventured into the field of jazz.

Career

Ladd played bass and drums in various garage bands during high school and studied English literature at Boston University . He was first known as a poet. His work has appeared in various literary magazines and anthologies, as well as the book Swing Low, Black Men Writing , and he was the winner of the Nuyorican Poets Café Slam .

His first album Easy Listening 4 Armageddon was released in 1997 on the Scratchie label . In addition to other albums, he released a trilogy under the names Majesticons and Infesticons from 2000 onwards , which deals with a fictional hip-hop war between the forces of evil - mainstream - and good - underground music .

Ladd has worked with musicians and bands such as Jackson and his Computer Band , Company Flow , Saul Williams , Terranova , Cannibal Ox , Roots Manuva , Ultra Living , DJ Mehdi and Ken Ishii . With Vijay Iyer he presented a trilogy with the albums In What Language (2003), Still Life with Commentator (2006) and Holding It Down: The Veterans' Dreams Project (2013), which deals with the effects of the last wars in Afghanistan and Iraq is busy on everyday life in the United States.
