Diane O'Grady

Diane Carolyn O'Grady (born November 23, 1967 in North Bay ) is a former Canadian rower . In 1996 she won the Olympic bronze medal in the double quad .

Athletic career

At the time of her rowing career, the 1.80 m tall Diane O'Grady competed for the Kingston Rowing Club in Kingston-upon-Thames, England. At the Pan American Games in 1995 , Silken Laumann , Marnie McBean , Diane O'Grady and Wendy Wiebe won the quadruple scull competition, but the victory was revoked because of a doping offense by Silken Laumann. At the 1995 World Championships in Tampere, the German double scull won ahead of Laryssa Biesenthal , Diane O'Grady, Marnie McBean and Kathleen Heddle . In the same line-up, the Canadians won the bronze medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta behind the German double fours and the Ukrainians. 1997 Diane O'Grady entered again at the World Championships and together with Theresa Luke , Maria Maunder and Jennifer Browett took sixth place.
