Massimo Paradiso
Massimo Paradiso (born October 19, 1968 in Vico Equense ) is a former Italian rower and two-time world champion in quadruples .
Athletic career
At the Junior World Championships in 1985, Paradiso finished fifth in the quadruple scull, and in 1986 he won the bronze medal. At the (unofficial) U23 World Championships , he won the silver medal in the double scull in 1988, the bronze medal in the double scull in 1989 and the silver medal in 1990. In 1990 he also took part in the world championships in the adult class and together with Filippo Soffici , Gianluca Farina and Alessandro Corona won the bronze medal behind the Soviet boat and the Swiss. At the 1991 World Championships , the Soviet double scull won the last appearance of the Soviet national rowing team, the Italians with Farina, Paradiso, Soffici and Corona received the silver medal ahead of the Dutch.
After a year break, the 1.89 m tall Paradiso returned to the Italian four-four in 1993. At the 1993 World Championships , Corona, Farina, Rossano Galtarossa and Paradiso received the bronze medal behind the boats from Germany and Ukraine. In 1994 in Indianapolis, Corona, Galtarossa, Paradiso and Alessio Sartori won ahead of the Ukrainians and the Germans. The following year, the four Italians were able to repeat the title at the World Championships in Tampere . At the Olympic Games in Atlanta , the two-time world champions finished fourth, half a minute behind the third-placed Australians.
