Tone Wieten (born March 17, 1994 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch rower who was an Olympic knight with an eighth in 2016 .

Athletic career

The 2.02 m tall rower finished eleventh at the U23 World Championships in 2013 with eighth place, and eighth in the following year. In 2015 Wieten rowed in the Dutch eighth without age restriction. After finishing sixth at the European Championships , the crew won the bronze medal behind the British and the Germans at the 2015 World Championships . In 2016, the Dutch eighth won the World Cup regattas in Varese and Lucerne. In between, the eighth finished sixth at the European Championships . At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the Dutch eight with Dirk Uittenbogaard , Boaz Meylink , Kaj Hendriks , Boudewijn Röell , Olivier Siegelaar , Tone Wieten, Mechiel Versluis , Robert Lücken and helmsman Peter Wiersum won the bronze medal behind the British world champions and the German European champions .

At the European Championships 2017 there were five rowers from last year's eighth with Meylink, Hendriks, Wieten, Versluis and Lücken, plus Roel Braas , Ruben Knab , Björn van den Ende and helmsman Diederik van Engelenburg . This new eight won the bronze medal behind the large boats from Germany and Poland. In 2018 Wieten rowed in a four-man without a helmsman and took fifth place at the European championships and fourth place at the world championships . In 2019, Wieten competed in a double quad . The Dutch crew with Dirk Uittenbogaard, Abe Wiersma , Tone Wieeten and Koen Metsemakers won the title at the European Championships in Lucerne ahead of the Italians. At the World Championships in Linz, the Dutch won ahead of the Poles and the Italians.
