Damir Martin (born July 14, 1988 in Vukovar ) is a Croatian rower who won two Olympic silver medals.

Martin started rowing in 1999. He was fourth in the four without a helmsman at the Junior World Championships in 2005, a year later at the Junior World Championships in 2006 he finished second behind the Danish boat together with Valent Sinković in the double scull . At the U23 World Championships in 2007 he competed in one and reached fourth place. At the rowing world championships in 2007 he started in eighth place , who finished in 14th place. Martin competed at the European Rowing Championships in 2008 in double sculls and rowed to sixth place.

In 2009, Martin competed in the first World Cup regatta in Banyoles with David Šain in a double scull , the two achieved fourth place. At the second World Cup regatta in Munich, the Croatian double four won with David Šain, Martin Sinković , Damir Martin and Valent Sinković. With this line-up, the boat also won the U23 World Championships, and the 2009 World Rowing Championships saw the Croatians cross the finish line as the fourth boat.

In 2010 the four Croatians won all three World Cup regattas as well as the U23 World Championships. After finishing second behind the Polish boat at the 2010 European Rowing Championships , the Croatians won the title at the 2010 World Rowing Championships in New Zealand. In 2011, the Croatians took 2nd, 1st and 5th place in the World Cup, and at the 2011 World Rowing Championships the boat received the bronze medal behind the boats from Australia and Germany. In 2012 the Croatian double-scull won all three World Cup regattas, and at the Olympic Games in London he received the silver medal behind the German boat.

At the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju , Martin won gold with the Croatian double scull ahead of Germany and the United Kingdom. After a hiatus in 2014, Damir Martin returned in 2015. At the beginning of the World Cup in Bled he was defeated by the Cuban Ángel Fournier in a single , at the European Championships in Poznan Martin won ahead of Ondřej Synek and Olaf Tufte . Martin successfully defended the European title in 2016 . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Martin fought an extremely close duel with New Zealander Mahé Drysdale , the evaluation of the target film showed Drysdale a minimal lead, Damir Martin received the silver medal. Martin also won silver in May 2017 at the European Championships in Račice u Štětí , while Synek won the title in front of a home crowd.
