Alessandro Corona

Alessandro Corona (born January 9, 1972 in Ortona ) is an Italian rower who was able to win four world titles in the quadruple sculls.

Life

At the Junior World Championships in 1989, Corona finished sixth with the Italian double foursome. The following year, he won with Rossano Galtarossa in double sculls . In the same year, Corona won the bronze medal in the quadruple scull at the world championships without age restrictions. The next year, the Italian four-man improved to second place behind the Soviet defending champions at the 1991 World Championships . In 1992 the Italian double scull received the Olympic bronze medal behind the boats from Germany and Norway.

In 1993 the German double scull won the World Championships ahead of the Ukrainians and the Italians. From 1994 to 1998 , the Italian double foursome with Corona won the world title four times in a row, but only finished fourth at the 1996 Olympic Games . At the 1999 World Championships , the boat missed the final and then won the B run. In Sydney at the 2000 Olympic Games , Corona rowed to fourth place in the Italian eighth . After a three-year break, Corona returned to the four-four for the 2004 Olympic Games , which took tenth place.
