Jacek Franciszek Streich (born October 12, 1967 in Toruń ) is a former Polish rower . In 1992 he won the Olympic bronze medal in a four-man team .

Career

The 1.90 m tall Jacel Streich finished twelfth in 1985 with eighth at the Junior World Championships . In the adult class, he rowed eighth to tenth place at the 1987 World Championships . At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, Streich competed with Wojciech Jankowski and helmsman Ireneusz Omiecki in a pair with helmsman and took ninth place.

Two years later, Streich started at the 1990 World Championships in New Zealand together with Wojciech Jankowski and Michał Cieślak in two with a helmsman and took seventh place. In 1991 a Polish foursome with a helmsman was formed with the line-up of Wojciech Jankowski, Maciej Łasicki , Jacek Streich, Tomasz Tomiak and Michał Cieślak. At the World Championships in Vienna in 1991 , the German four-man won ahead of the Romanians and the Polish boat, which had a lead of 0.2 seconds over the fourth-placed British at the finish. A year later at the Olympic Games in Barcelona , the Polish four-man rowed with helmsman in the same line-up as last year. In the Olympic final, the Romanians won ahead of the Germans and the Poles, who this time had a lead of almost three seconds over the fourth-placed boat from the United States.

In 1993 Streich took part in two boat classes at the World Championships in Račice u Štětí . Jankowski, Łasicki, Streich and Tomiak won the silver medal in the four without a helmsman behind the French boat. The four rowers were also members of the Polish eight, which took seventh place. In 1994 Jankowski, Łasicki, Streich and Tomiak finished fifth again at the World Championships in Indianapolis . In 1995 Tomiak was replaced by Piotr Basta in the Polish foursome . At the 1995 World Championships in Tampere, the boat won the bronze medal behind the Italians and British. The following year, the Polish four-man competed at the Olympic Games in Atlanta with Piotr Olszewski , Jacek Streich, Wojciech Jankowski and Piotr Basta and took twelfth place. At the 1997 World Championships , Streich took eighth place with the four-man without a helmsman, in 1998 in Cologne he was seventh with the four-man with a helmsman and in 1999 in Canada he rowed with the four-man without a helmsman again to tenth place.
