Michał Cieślak (rower)

Michał Cieślak (born September 6, 1968 in Sierpc ) is a former Polish helmsman in rowing . In 1992 he won the Olympic bronze medal in a four-man team .

Career

The 1.62 m tall Michał Cieślak drove the two-man with helmsman with Tomasz Tomiak and Krzysztof Polanczyk in 1985 and took fourth place at the Junior World Championships , in 1967 he came fifth with Artur Jankowiak and Jacek Gaworski.

In 1989 Cieślak started at the World Championships in Bled together with Tomasz Tomiak and Wojciech Jankowski in two with a helmsman and finished sixth, in 1990 in New Zealand Jankowski, Jacek Streich and Cieślak were seventh. In 1991 a Polish foursome with a helmsman was formed with the line-up of Wojciech Jankowski, Maciej Łasicki , Jacek Streich, Tomasz Tomiak and Michał Cieślak. At the World Championships in Vienna in 1991 , the German four-man won ahead of the Romanians and the Polish boat, which had a lead of 0.2 seconds over the fourth-placed British at the finish. A year later at the Olympic Games in Barcelona , the Polish four-man rowed with helmsman in the same line-up as last year. In the Olympic final, the Romanians won ahead of the Germans and the Poles, who this time had a lead of almost three seconds over the fourth-placed boat from the United States. In 1993 Cieślak reached the sixth place in the four-man team at the World Championships in Račice u Štětí .
