Tessa Appeldoorn

Tessa Appeldoorn (born April 29, 1973 in Utrecht ) is a former Dutch rower .

Athletic career

Tessa Appeldoorn reached fifth place in the double sculls at the Junior World Championships in 1990 , and in 1991 she finished eighth in the double sculls . In 1993 she reached the Nations Cup, the predecessor of the U23 World Championships, fourth place in the double fours and second place in the foursome without a helmsman .

At the 1994 World Championships in Indianapolis, the 1.77 m tall rower competed for the first time in the adult world championships and took fourth place with the Dutch eighth . The following year, the eighth won the bronze medal behind the boats from the United States and Romania at the 1995 World Championships in Tampere. The following year, the Dutch took sixth place at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

In the post-Olympic year, the eighth missed the finals at the 1997 World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette in France and finished eighth. In 1998 in Cologne , Appeldoorn did not row in the eighth but in the four without a helmswoman and won bronze behind the boats from Ukraine and Canada. In 1999, Tessa Appeldoorn returned to the Dutch eighth and finished fourth at the World Championships . The following year, the Dutch boat won the silver medal behind the Romanians at the Olympic Games in Sydney.
