Kjetil Undset

Kjetil Undset (born August 24, 1970 in Stavanger ) is a former Norwegian rower who won two Olympic silver medals.

Athletic career

At the World Championships 1990 took Undset in quadruple sculls tenth place. The following year he entered the world championships together with Per Sætersdal in double sculls and finished fourth. At the 1992 Olympic Games , the 1989 double sculls world champions Rolf Thorsen and Lars Bjønness sat in the double scull with Undset and Sætersdal and won silver behind the German double scull.

From 1993, the 2.01 m tall undset competed in a single , at the 1993 World Championships it took seventh place, and in 1994 it rowed to 15th place. In 1995, Kjetil Undset and Steffen Størseth formed a double scull with which they won the bronze medal behind the boats from Denmark and Germany at the World Championships . The following year, the Italians Davide Tizzano and Agostino Abbagnale won the 1996 Olympic Games ahead of Størseth and Undset. The two Norwegians also received the silver medal at the 1997 and 1998 World Championships , with the Germans Andreas Hajek and Stephan Volkert winning in both years . In 1999 Størseth and Undset switched to the four-man without a helmsman , with which they took second place in two regattas in the Rowing World Cup . At the 1999 World Championships , the Norwegian four-man crossed the finish line as the fifth boat. At Undset's last Olympic start in Sydney in 2000 , the Norwegian foursome reached ninth place.
