Per Sætersdal

Per Albert Sætersdal ([ peɾ ˑalbəɾs sɜˑtəɾsdaːl ]; born May 18, 1964 in Bergen ) is a former Norwegian rower who won an Olympic silver medal.

Per Sætersdal from Fana Roklub had the height of a lightweight rower at 1.81 m . Since the lightweight boat classes only became Olympic in 1996, he had to gain weight for his Olympic participation. At world championships he was able to start in lightweight boat classes, but had to reduce weight, especially when he returned to lightweight in 1990.

At the World Rowing Championships in 1983 and 1984 , Sætersdal finished eighth in the lightweight double scull . In 1985 he was twelfth and in 1986 sixth in the lightweight single. At the World Rowing Championships in 1987 Per Sætersdal entered with Ivan Enstad in double sculls without weight restrictions and took fourth place. At the Olympic Games in 1988 Sætersdal competed with Kjell Voll and finished eleventh in the double scull. In 1989 he entered the quadruple scull with no weight limit and reached sixth place at the world championships . In 1990 he returned to the lightweight for one season, at the world championships he won the bronze medal behind the Dutchman Frans Göbel and the Belgian Wim van Belleghem . The following year Sætersdal started together with Kjetil Undset in double sculls without weight restrictions and finished fourth at the World Championships . At the 1992 Olympic Games , the 1989 double sculls world champions Rolf Thorsen and Lars Bjønness sat in the double scull with Undset and Sætersdal and won silver behind the German double scull.
