Rupert Obholzer

Rupert John Obholzer (born March 27, 1970 in Cape Town , South Africa ) is a former British rower .

Athletic career

Rupert Obholzer won gold in the four without a helmsman at the Junior World Championships in 1987 together with Jonathan Searle , Tim Foster and Toby Hessian . In 1988 he came in eighth and finished sixth.

At the World Championships in 1990 Rupert Obholzer competed with the British eighth and rowed fourth. At the 1992 Olympic Games , Obholzer finished sixth with the British eighth.

From 1993 Obholzer rowed in the British four-man without a helmsman. After a fifth place at the 1993 World Rowing Championships , he won bronze in 1994 and silver in 1995 . At the 1996 Olympic Games , Tim Foster, Rupert Obholzer, Greg Searle and Jonathan Searle received bronze medals .

The 1.91 m tall Rupert Obholzer rowed for the University of London . His brother Anton competed in the 1988 Olympic Games with the British eighth.
