Megan Kalmoe (born August 21, 1983 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is an American rower and 2015 world champion in quadruples .

Life

Kalmoe started rowing in 2002. In 2005 she won the U23 World Championships in a four-man team without a helmsman . In the 2008 World Cup season she competed with Ellen Tomek in a double scull , and at the Olympic Games in Beijing , the two finished fifth. The following year, the two finished sixth at the 2009 World Championships .

In 2010 Megan Kalmoe moved to the US double scull , with which she finished fifth at the 2010 World Championships . In 2011 Megan Kalmoe won her first international medal in the adult division, the double scull with Stesha Carle , Natalie Dell , Adrienne Martelli and Megan Kalmoe reached second place behind the German boat at the World Championships in Bled . In 2012, the US double scull with Dell, Kara Kohler , Kalmoe and Martelli won the bronze medal at the Olympics in Eton behind the boats from Ukraine and Germany. In 2013, the boat finished fifth at the World Championships , with only Kalmoe and Kohler from the bronze winning boat from last year remaining.

In 2014 Megan Kalmoe rowed with Kerry Simmonds in two without a helmsman . The two won the silver medal at the World Championships in Amsterdam behind Britons Helen Glover and Heather Stanning . At the 2015 World Cup in Varese, Simmonds and Kalmoe took second place behind the British women. For the 2015 World Championships , Megan Kalmoe returned to the quadruple scull. Together with Amanda Elmore , Tracy Eisser and Olivia Coffey , she won the title in front of the German double four. For the double quad at the 2016 Olympic Games , the US rowing association nominated Tracy Eisser and Megan Kalmoe from the 2015 world championship boat, as well as Grace Latz and Adrienne Martelli, who were 2015 world champions in the foursome without a helmsman . This quadruple finished fifth in the Olympic final .

In 2017 Kalmoe rowed together with Tracy Eisser in two-without. The duo had a good season in which they finished silver in all finals, both in the Rowing World Cup and in the World Championships, behind the superior pairing Grace Prendergast and Kerri Gowler from New Zealand.
