Olivia van Rooijen (born October 29, 1988 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch rower .

Athletic career

Olivia van Rooijen started rowing in 2000. In 2005 she took eighth place with the Dutch four- four at the Junior World Championships , and in 2006 the boat came eleventh. At the U23 World Championships in 2008 she won the silver medal with the four-man without a taxwoman , and in 2009 she and Wianka van Dorp received the bronze medal in the two-man without a taxwoman . The two also competed in two at the 2009 World Championships , but only finished in fourteenth and penultimate place. In 2010 Olivia van Rooijen rowed eighth in two World Cup regattas , and at the 2010 World Championships she finished tenth and last in two with Wianka van Dorp. The following year, Wianka van Dorp and Olivia van Rooijen started together with Elisabeth Hogerwerf and Femke Dekker in a four-man team without a helmsman and won the bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships . For the 2012 Olympic Games , van Dorp and van Rooijen tried to qualify in two without a helmsman, but were eliminated in the hope run of the qualification regatta in Lucerne.

At the 2013 World Championships , Olivia van Rooijen and Elisabeth Hogerwerf competed in twos without a helmsman and came in fifth. In 2014, Hogerwerf and van Rooijen started in a double scull , with which they finished fourth at the European Championships in Belgrade and seventh at the World Championships in Amsterdam . In 2015 van Rooijen and Hogerwerf started again in the European Championships in two without a helmsman, they both won the silver medal. At the 2015 World Championships , the two finished ninth with the two and sixth with the Dutch eight . Olivia van Rooijen started the 2016 Olympic season with the Dutch eighth and winning the silver medal at the European Championships . Two weeks later, the Dutch eighth qualified in Lucerne as the last boat for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There the Dutch women achieved sixth place.

At the European Championships in 2017 , the Dutch quadruple with Olivia van Rooijen, Inge Janssen , Sophie Souwer and Nicole Beukers won the silver medal behind the German quadruple. In the preparatory regattas of the Rowing World Cup 2017, the quartet crossed the finish line behind the Polish foursome, but managed to overtake them in the finish sprint at the World Championships and thus secure the world title. In 2018 Olivia van Rooijen, Karolien Florijn , Sophie Souwer and Nicole Beukers won the bronze medal at both the European and World Championships . The following year Roos de Jong , Inge Janssen, Sophie Souwer and Olivia van Rooijen rowed in the Dutch quad scull. At the 2019 European Championships in Lucerne, the crew won silver behind the German double scull. Three months later, the Dutch women with the cast of van Rooijen, Janssen, Souwer and Nicole Beukers won bronze at the World Championships in Linz behind the Chinese and Polish women.
