Gu Xiaoli

Gu Xiaoli ( Chinese  顾晓黎 ; born March 28, 1971 in Liaoning Province ) is a former Chinese rower .

Athletic career

Gu Xiaoli competed in two boat classes at the 1991 World Championships in Vienna . In the double sculls she finished fourth together with Lu Huali and in the double sculls she won the B-final and was in seventh place. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , Gu Xiaoli and Lu Huali won the bronze medal in the double scull behind the Germans Kerstin Köppen and Kathrin Boron and the Romanians Elisabeta Lipă and Veronica Cochela .

In 1993 Cao Mianying , Gu Xiaoli, Liu Xirong and Zhang Xiuyun won the title in double fours at the 1993 World Championships in Račice u Štětí in front of the boats from Germany and the United States. Two years later, Gu Xiaoli finished seventh in the quadruple scull at the 1995 World Championships in Tampere . At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , Cao Mianying, Zhang Xiuyun, Liu Xirong and Gu Xiaoli finished fifth, less than a second behind the second-placed Ukrainians.

The 1.65 m tall Gu Xiaoli also occasionally competed in the Rowing World Cup in the 2000s, but could no longer build on the successes from the early years of her career.
