Annabel "Annie" Morwenna Vernon (born September 1, 1982 in Truro , Cornwall ) is a British rower . She is a two-time world champion and silver medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Vernon began rowing at the age of 17. She celebrated her first successes in the U23 age group, in which she and Jo Cook won a bronze medal in the two-man category at the U23 world regatta in 2004 . Then she switched to the scull area and took ninth place in the open age group in the single at the 2005 World Rowing Championships in Japan. After another transition year in double sculls , she managed to jump into the British women's double scull in 2007 , which won the gold medal at the 2007 World Rowing Championships . The following year she won the silver medal with Debbie Flood , Frances Houghton and Katherine Grainger at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, just behind the Chinese boat.

Her next Olympic cycle began with another year in double sculls with Anna Watkins . After good performance and second place at the 2009 World Rowing Championships , she qualified again for the quadruple scull and won her second world title in 2010 . The following year, the British sculls weakened 7th place at the 2011 World Rowing Championships , after which Vernon back into the belt changed range. She finished 5th in the British women's eight row at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She has not competed internationally since then.

Vernon starts for the Marlow Rowing Club . At a height of 179 cm, she weighs 79 kg. She completed her education at Wadebridge School, Downing College, Cambridge and King's College London (MA International Relations).
