Carolina Florijn

Karolien Florijn (born April 6, 1998 ) is a Dutch rower .

Athletic career

Karolien Florijn took part in the Junior World Championships in 2015 with the Dutch eight , but did not reach the final. In 2016 she was the European Junior Champion in single and won the bronze medal in this boat class at the Junior World Championships . At the European Championships 2017, Florijn won the silver medal behind the Romanians with the Dutch eighth. At the U23 World Championships in 2017, together with Elsbeth Beeres , Ymkje Clevering and Veronique Meester, she won the four-man title in front of the boats from Romania and Germany. At the end of the season, the Dutch eighth finished sixth at the World Championships in Sarasota . At the beginning of the 2018 season, the Dutch double scull with the line-up Olivia van Rooijen , Karolien Florijn, Sophie Souwer and Nicole Beukers won the World Cup regatta in Belgrade. At the second World Cup regatta in Linz, Roos de Jong and Karolien Florijn took second place in the double scull . At the World Cup in Lucerne, Florijn was back in the double fours and finished third. At the European Championships in Glasgow , the Dutch double scull won the bronze medal behind the Poles and the Ukrainians. A month and a half after the European Championships, the 2018 World Championships took place in Plovdiv . The Polish women won in double fours in front of the German boat, behind them van Rooijen, Florijn, Souwer and Beukers rowed bronze. In 2019, a foursome without a helmsman in the line-up of Elisabeth Hogerwerf , Karolien Florijn, Ymkje Clevering and Veronique Meester competed at the European Championships in Lucerne and won the gold medal ahead of the Romanians. Three months later, at the World Championships in Linz, the Dutch women won silver behind the Australians.

Karolien Florijn is the daughter of the two-time Olympic rowing champion Ronald Florijn .
