Roos de Jong

Roos de Jong (born August 23, 1993 ) is a Dutch rower . In 2019 she won the world championship bronze in double sculls .

Athletic career

Roos de Jong started rowing in 2009. At the Junior World Championships in 2011 , she finished seventh in the double scull . Two years later she competed in two boat classes at the U23 World Championships in 2013. With the double scull she finished eighth, in eight she reached sixth place. At the U23 World Championships in 2014, she finished seventh in the singles , in 2015 she won bronze in the double sculls together with Laila Youssifou .

In 2017, the 1.75 m tall Roos de Jong competed in the Rowing World Cup for the first time and reached sixth place in the double scull at her start. However, at the World Cup regatta in Belgrade, three of the six boats in double sculls were from the Netherlands. At the European Championships in Račice u Štětí , Roos de Jong competed in one and took seventh place. Four months later at the World Championships in Sarasota Roos de Jong finished eighth in a double scull with Marloes Oldenburg . In 2018 Roos de Jong rowed a double scull with Lisa Scheenaard . The two won silver at the European Championships in Glasgow , 0.3 seconds behind the French. The two Dutch women finished fifth at the 2018 World Championships . In 2019, de Jong competed at the European Championships in quadruples and won the silver medal behind the German quadruple together with Inge Janssen , Sophie Souwer and Olivia van Rooijen . Three months later at the World Championships in Linz / Ottensheim , Scheenard and de Jong competed in double sculls and won the bronze medal behind the New Zealanders and Romanians.
