Sanoshri-Taratal ( Nepali सानोश्री – ताराताल ) is a city ( municipality ) in the far west of Nepal in the Bardiya district .
The city was created on December 2, 2014 by amalgamating the Village Development Committees Sanoshri (in the north) and Taratal (in the south). The urban area covers 56.8 km². The city is located in the Terai northwest of Gulariya on the border with the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh . The Babai River flows along the eastern city limits.
Residents
At the 2011 census, the VDCs, from which the city of Sanoshri-Taratal emerged, had 26,431 inhabitants (11,923 of them male) in 5910 households.
