Georgeta Andrunache b. Damian (born April 14, 1976 in Dracşani , Botoşani district ) is a Romanian rower and is one of the most successful athletes in her discipline with 5 Olympic gold medals.

Career

She started rowing at the age of 13. She studied physics and sports at the George Bacovia Bacau University . Your home club is CS Dinamo Bucharest . She is trained by Nicolae Gioga and has been married since 2006.

On September 26, 2000, she won two gold medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . With her partner at the time, Doina Ignat , she won in a pair without a helmsman in front of a team from Australia and the USA. In the premier class, the eighth, her team could also win. She achieved success together with Doina Ignat, Viorica Susanu , Maria Magdalena Dumitrache , Veronica Cochela , Liliana Gafencu , Elena Georgescu , Elisabeta Lipă and Ioana Olteanu .
