Strategic Command is a series of classic turn-based computer strategy games .

description

The first part Strategic Command: European Theater was published in 2003 and only makes moderate demands on the hardware . It can already be played on a Pentium II with 64 MB RAM. Instead, the title does without any sophisticated graphic implementation. It is played on a very simple map of Europe, on which classic hexagon fields can be switched on if necessary . Troops, naval units, air squadrons, cities, ports, mines and oil production sites are represented as simple symbols. The symbols are provided with degrees of resistance that can decrease in the event of an attack and can be restored against payment. The background of the game is the Second World War . It is reminiscent of early SSI titles such as Panzer General or Clash of Steel . Through research you can acquire more and more modern units as the game progresses.

The game has a stable fan base, but received quite different rates of reception. There have been positive reviews in several gaming magazines. It can be played against the computer or against another player with a time delay via e-mail , over the network or over the Internet. With the latter method there is no game server, instead the game is played directly by exchanging the IP address.

The successor Strategic Command 2: Blitzkrieg has been on the market since 2006 . The game is a further development of the first part and essentially the old features have been refined and improved. For example, the diplomacy mode has been expanded and the possibilities for research have been refined. This game also has low hardware requirements.

The English extension Weapons and Warfare has been available since October 2007, adding new units (e.g. dive bombers, which are particularly effective against ground units, or paratroopers, with which you can fly over certain distances, to surprisingly unguarded enemy cities in the hinterland to be able to occupy or to overcome a closed front line) and brings a larger map with it. Furthermore, there are road networks and rail connections that influence the logistical concept of the game.

The game can be modified with an included editor . The patch 1.08 of the English version has a fan modification built in.
