Ruth Walczak (* 15. September 1988 in Rochdale ) is a former British lightweight - rower .

Athletic career

At the U23 World Championships , 1.79 m tall Ruth Walczak took fifth place in the single in 2007 , fourth in the double scull with Rosamund Bradbury in 2008 and fifth in the four sculled in 2009 . In 2010 she finished eighth in the quadruple sculls . In between was seventh place with eighth at the 2009 European Championships .

At the 2012 European Championships in Varese, she competed with Imogen Walsh in the lightweight double scull and won the bronze medal behind the boats from Italy and Greece. In 2013, Walczak rowed three times to fourth place in the lightweight single in the World Cup . At the World Championships in Chungju , the Austrian Michaela Taupe-Traer won ahead of the Greek Aikaterini Nikolaidou . Walczak won the bronze medal, 0.89 seconds behind the Greek. The following year, Walczak competed at the World Championships in Amsterdam with the lightweight quadruple scull . Ruth Walczak, Eleanor Piggott , Brianna Stubbs and Charlotte Taylor took sixth place. At the 2015 World Championships , the British lightweight double scull competed with Stubbs, Walczak, Emily Craig and Piggott; the British women won the silver medal about two seconds behind the Germans.
