Roxana Gabriela Cogianu (born September 21, 1986 in Iași ) is a Romanian rower . She is six-time European champion and three-time Olympic participant for Romania.

Career

Cogianu began rowing in 2001 and was able to collect his first international successes relatively quickly. In two participations in the Junior World Championships, she achieved a gold medal (2003) and a bronze medal (2004) in double fours . She then rowed for two years in the U23 area and was able to start in the open quadruple sculls from 2007, which was able to achieve a silver medal at the newly introduced European Rowing Championships in 2007 and 8th place at the World Championships . In the 2008 Olympic season, she also initially rowed in double fours at the European Championships, where she won a bronze medal. Then she switched to the smaller double scull and took part in this boat class together with Ionelia Zaharia at the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing . The team reached a 10th place.

Together with Ionalia Zaharia, Cogianu became a regular in the successful Romanian women's eight from 2009. From 2009 to 2014 she was able to win the European Championship title in this boat class every year, plus two silver and one bronze medal at the rowing world championships in 2009, 2010 and 2013. She also rowed in the women at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London -Eighth and took fourth place. At the rowing world championships in 2013 she also dared a double start together with Nicoleta Albu and, in addition to the medal in eighth, also won silver in the two-man without a helmsman . In 2015 a bronze medal followed at the European Championships and seventh place at the World Championships . At the beginning of May 2016, the Romanian eighth finished fourth at the European Championships . A fortnight later, the Romanians won the last Olympic qualification in Lucerne. At the 2016 Olympic Games , the Romanian eighth won the bronze medal in the line-up of Roxana Cogianu, Ioana Strungaru , Mihaela Petrilă , Iuliana Popa , Mădălina Bereș , Laura Oprea , Adelina Boguș , Andreea Boghian and taxwoman Daniela Druncea .

Cogianu starts for the Olimpia Bucharest CS club . At a height of 1.79 m, her competition weight is around 74 kg.
