Sherritt International is a Canadian mining company founded in 1927 as Sherritt Gordon Mines . It is the largest producer of nickel and cobalt from laterite ores. Sherritt owns nickel mines in Fort Saskatchewan , Alberta , Cuba ( Moa near Holguín) and Madagascar (Ambatovy).

Sherritt also extracts oil and gas and produces electricity in Cuba. In 2014 the company withdrew from coal mining.
