Mitchel Steenman (born June 17, 1984 in Dirksland ) is a Dutch rower .

Steenman reached the finals at the Junior World Championships in 2001 in the two-man without a helmsman and finished in sixth place, the following year he reached fourth place with the four-man without a helmsman . At the U23 World Championships in 2005, Steenman won with Olaf van Andel in an uncontrolled two-man. In the adult class, Steenman started in the Rowing World Cup for the first time in 2005 and took fourth place twice with his eighth , while the Dutch eighth finished eighth at the World Championships . In 2006 Steenman and van Andel also rowed in the World Cup in two without a helmsman. After 14th place at the 2006 World Championships , Steenman returned to eighth in 2007 and finished tenth at the World Championships in Munich . After the Dutch eighth had only reached the B final twice in the 2008 World Cup season, the crew was able to improve at the Olympic Games in Beijing and took fourth place. In the following year, the Dutch eighth reached the A-final without interruption, and the crew won the bronze medal at the world championships . In 2010 Steenman started at the international championships in the four-man without a helmsman, he finished eighth at the European championships and eleventh place at the world championships . In 2011 Steenman reached sixth place in the single at the European Championships .

In 2012, Steenman finished fifth at the Olympic Games with the Dutch eight . At the end of the Olympic season, Steenman won the European Championships with Rogier Blink in two without a helmsman. The following year, the two won the bronze medal at the European and World Championships . After winning the silver medal at the 2014 European Championships , the two Dutchmen missed an A final at the 2014 World Championships in Amsterdam for the first time in two years and only rowed to tenth place. In 2015 Roel Braas switched to Steenman in two. With a fourth place at the 2015 World Championships , the two managed to qualify directly for the 2016 Olympic Games. Braas and Steenman started the 2016 Olympic season by winning the bronze medal at the 2016 European Championships . At the 2016 Olympic Games , the two Dutch came in eighth.
