particularities |
artificially dammed lake |
The Tangeum Lake ( Korean 탄금호 Tan-geum Ho, " Chungju -See") is an artificial lake near the city of Chungju in South Korea , which by damming the river Hangang was created. There is an international rowing regatta course on the lake .
use
The lake is located a few kilometers downstream from the Chungju dam , which, at 98 meters high, forms the largest reservoir in South Korea and regulates the runoff of the slope in the area of Lake Tangeum. The current is therefore constantly low, which is why the lake is ideal for leisure activities and water sports.
On the lake, the International Tangeum Lake Regatta Course is located a little above the reservoir. The 2013 World Rowing Championships and other international rowing regattas were held on this route .
