Alan Sinclair (born October 16, 1985 in Inverness ) is a British rower .

Alan Sinclair started rowing in Inverness and then attended the University of Aberdeen . In 2008 he moved to Henley-on-Thames and joined the Leander Club . In 2013 the 1.93 m tall Sinclair rowed in the Rowing World Cup for the first time . At the 2013 World Championships , the British four-man without a helmsman finished fifth with Alan Sinclair, Nathaniel Reilly-O'Donnell , Scott Durant and Matthew Tarrant . At the beginning of the 2014 season, Sinclair and Reilly-O'Donnell reached fourth place at the European Championships in two without a helmsman . In the 2014 World Cup, Sinclair started eighth and twos with helmsman . In this boat class, Sinclair won the silver medal at the 2014 World Championships together with Scott Durant and helmsman Henry Fieldman . At the end of May 2015 the British four-man without a helmsman won the European Championships with Nathaniel Reilly-O'Donnell, Alan Sinclair, Tom Ransley and Scott Durant . At the World Championships in early September, Durant, Sinclair, Ransley and Stewart Innes took third place behind the boats from Italy and Australia. In 2016, Sinclair and Innes switched to the two without a helmsman, they won the silver medal at the 2016 European Championships . At the 2016 Olympic Games , the two Brits finished fourth.

In 2017 Sinclair moved to the British eight. After finishing seventh at the 2017 World Championships and fifth at the 2018 European Championships , the British won bronze at the 2018 World Championships behind the Germans and Australians.
