Lauren Wilkinson

Lauren Wilkinson (born October 17, 1989 in Vancouver ) is a Canadian rower .

The six-foot-tall Wilkinson graduated from Princeton University and rowed for the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club in Burnaby .

Wilkinson began rowing in 2000. In 2007 she finished sixth in the single at the Junior World Championships . In 2009 she reached fourth place with the Canadian eighth at the U23 World Championships , in 2010 she won the bronze medal and in 2011 the Canadian eighth rowed herself the gold medal. In 2012 she moved up to the Canadian eighth in the adult class. The eighth finished second at the World Cup in Lucerne behind the US eighth; the Canadians won the World Cup in Munich because the US eighth did not start. The 2012 Olympic Regatta was held on Dorney Lake near Eton, where the US rowers won, the Canadian eighth received silver in the line-up of Janine Hanson , Rachelle Viinberg , Krista Guloien , Lauren Wilkinson, Natalie Mastracci , Ashley Brzozowicz , Darcy Marquardt , Andréanne Morin and Lesley Thompson .

After a year off, Wilkinson returned to the Canadian eighth in 2014 and won the silver medal at the World Championships behind the US boat. At the 2015 World Championships , the US eight won ahead of the New Zealanders and Canadians. At the 2016 Olympic Games , the Canadian eighth finished fifth.
