The Dürschbach (also called the Dürsch ) is a flowing water between Bechen in the municipality of Kürten and Klefhaus in the city of Overath .
Origin of name
The name Weyer or Weier means water stagnation. The name Dürsch is derived from an abbreviation of the place name Dürscheid .

Weyerbach
Weyerbach is the name of the 3.953 km long section of the Dürschbach from the at an altitude of 245 m above sea level. NHN in the village of Heidergansfeld (Bechen) to the mouth of the Miebach in Steeg . Along its course are Neuensaal , Pohl , where he used to drive the mill located there, and the Weyermühle , which he also used to drive. The mill pond is still there. It flows past the Kalkbuchenwald nature reserve between Hove and Weyermühle and then between Hauserhof and Hove past the Steeger Berg nature reserve .
Further course
From Steeg the Dürschbach flows about 5 km through Dürscheid, past Steintor and then through the Dürschtal. There is a fed pond at the Dürscheider hut . In the further course the brook Oberselbach and Broichhausen and the nature reserve Dürschbachtal passes . There are some fish ponds in the Dürschtal. The brook flows into the Sülz in Klefhaus , although it briefly flows through the Bergisch Gladbach and Overather regions. Its length including the Weyerbach section is 9.275 km.
Catchment area
The almost 17 km² catchment area of the Dürschbach and its tributaries borders
- in the north to the Osbach ,
- in the northwest to the Hommerbach ,
- in the west to the Westerbach ,
- in the southwest at the oil depths ,
- in the south to a nameless tributary of the Sülz,
- in the southeast to the Volbach ,
- in the east to the Asselborn brook ,
- north of it to the Strunde and
- in the northeast to the Scherfbach .
Tributaries
Four unnamed bodies of water flow into the Weyerbach, and they are listed in the NRW water register. At Nelsbach the stream of the same name (without GKZ) flows from the right to the Weyerbach.

- Steinbach (on the right) near Keller , length 1,078 m

- Silberkauler Siefen (on the right) near Broichhausen , length 2,014 m
- nameless body of water (on the right), near Oberselbach , length 1,535 m
- Alemigssiefen (left side) near Klefhaus, length 2,426 m

ecology
In the upper Dürschbach, concentrations of metals such as zinc, titanium, cadmium and cobalt that are dangerous for organisms are measured, apparently due to the earlier mining in the region. The fish population is unsatisfactory.
Dehydration
During the summer months of 2019, the water in the Dürscheid-Steeg area turned into a trickle and dried up completely in September. According to the memory of older residents, this total drying up of the creek took place for the first time in this 2019 summer season. During the autumn months, the usual water level was reached again.
