Karsten Brodowski (born June 22, 1985 in Neuruppin ) is a former German scull rower . In 2007 he won bronze at the world championships with the double foursome.

Karsten Brodowski is 2.05 m tall and started for the Potsdamer Ruder-Gesellschaft until 2008 , then he switched to the rowing club at Wannsee , where he trains with Sven Ueck. Brodowski became world champion in the age group of under 23 years old in 2004. In 2005 he started in the adult class and reached the world championship finals. In 2006 he became U23 world champion in singles , while his club mate Hans Gruhne became junior world champion in singles. In 2007 they both got into the double fours and achieved third place at the World Championships in Munich together with René Bertram and Robert Sens .

In 2008, Brodowski qualified six weeks before the start of the Beijing Olympic Games in a double scull with the then 19-year-old Clemens Wenzel . The ninth place could be achieved as an overall result of a very short preparation time. In 2009, a bronze medal was rowed again in the double fours at the World Championships in Poznan, Poland. This time u. a. with Marcel Hacker , the best German rower, who started in the one for years . After two years of unsuccessful application for the national team places due to health reasons, a comeback succeeded in the 2012 Olympic season with a second place in the qualifying competitions of the German national rowing team and an unofficial world record over 6000 m on the Concept2 rowing ergometer in 18: 07.2 minutes. The national disciplinary group trainer Marcus Schwarzrock , who has been responsible since 2009, decided, however, after the nomination measures were completed, to exclude Brodowski from the further nomination process for team formation. The reason for this was Brodowski's lack of ability to large boats . This decision led to the termination of the rowing career of Karsten Brodowski in the same year.
