Clemens Wenzel

Clemens Wenzel (born August 23, 1988 in Prenzlau , GDR ) is a former German rower .

Wenzel was junior world champion in 2006 and world champion in the age group of under 23-year-olds in double fours in 2007 . In the 2008 Olympic season, Wenzel tried his hand at double sculls . Together with his club mate Falko Nolte , he missed the qualification several times. Although the two finished second at the World Cup kick-off in Munich, they missed the A-final of the best six boats in Poznan. Ultimately, Wenzel and Nolte were split up before the decisive qualification run; Karsten Brodowski , also from Potsdam, joined Wenzel and together they prevailed against Falko Nolte and Markus Kuffner . At the Olympic Games , the two finished 9th. In 2009 Wenzel started with Hans Gruhne in double sculls at the U23 World Championships and won silver. The following year he competed again at the U23 World Championships and came in 11th with the German double scull.

Clemens Wenzel is 1.96 m tall. He initially started for the Potsdamer Ruder-Gesellschaft (PRG) and in the 2012 season switched to the Ruder-Club Potsdam , which was split off from the PRG , but was no longer able to appear internationally.
