Crew boat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a team boat are rowing boats and canoes called, where more active as an athlete. Examples are the figure eight and the double quad in rowing and the figure eight canoe and the quad kayak in canoeing .

Driving team boats poses special challenges for the athletes, because for a high boat speed not only an individual maximum performance of all team members must be provided, but the performance must also be coordinated among the athletes ("co-action"). The beat frequency of the boat is given by the batsman and should be taken over by the other team members as synchronously as possible . Due to the individually different characteristics of the technique and the preferred stroke frequency, well-coordinated teams with weaker individual performances are often superior to those with stronger individual performances but little joint training.
