Bjorn van den Ende

Bjorn van den Ende (born January 10, 1986 in Naarden ) is a Dutch rower who was second in the 2019 world championship with an eighth .

Athletic career

Bjorn van den Ende, who is about 1.90 m tall, took part in the 2010 rowing world cup for the first time. At the 2011 World Championships , he finished 21st in the lightweight double scull with Joris Pijs . At the 2012 World Championships in the non-Olympic boat classes, he finished seventh with the Dutch lightweight eighth. In 2013 he switched to the lightweight four-man without a helmsman and finished ninth at the European championships and twelfth place at the world championships . In 2014, Joris Pijs, Jort van Gennep , Timothee Heijbrock and Bjorn van den Ende reached the A-final at the World Championships in Amsterdam and then finished sixth. In 2015, the crew reached fifth place at the European and World Championships . In 2016 Pijs, Bart Roovers , van Gennep and Bjorn van den Ende rowed to fourth place at the European Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel. At the Olympic regatta in Rio de Janeiro , Timothee Heijbrock was there again instead of Roovers. The Dutch took fifth place in the B final, and eleventh place overall.

In 2017 Bjorn van den Ende switched from the lightweight rowers to the heavy boat classes. At the European Championships , he won the bronze medal behind the boats from Germany and Poland with the eighth. At the 2017 World Championships , the Dutch finished fourth. In 2018 Bjorn van den Ende, Tone Wieten , Jasper Tissen and Bram Schwarz formed a four without a helmsman. The Dutch came fifth at the European Championships in Glasgow , and the Dutch came fourth at the World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv . In 2019 van den Ende, Tissen and Schwarz switched to the Dutch eight. At the beginning of the 2019 season, the eighth won bronze at the European Championships in Lucerne behind the Germans and the British. At the world championships, the Germans won ahead of the Dutch and the British.
