Leah Saunders

Leah Saunders (born February 7, 1993 ) is an Australian rower . In 2019 she finished second in the eighth championship .

Athletic career

Leah Saunders was tenth at the 2011 Junior World Championships with a double foursome . In 2014 she was eighth at the U23 World Championships , in 2015 Leah Saunders, Rowena Meredith , Tessa Carty and Georgina Gotch won silver behind the Poles. In 2017 Leah Saunders, together with Genevieve Horton , Rowena Meredith and Caitlin Cronin, took second place at the World Cup in Poznan, and the four Australians took third place at the World Cup final in Lucerne. They were sixth at the 2017 World Championships in Sarasota .

In 2018, Saunders switched from scull to oar rowing . With the Australian eighth in the line-up Leah Saunders, Georgina Gotch, Rosemary Popa , Georgina Rowe , Annabelle McIntyre , Ciona Wilson , Jacinta Edmunds , Emma Fessey and helmsman James Rook , she won bronze at the world championships behind the boat from the United States and the Canadians in Plovdiv . In 2019, the Australians won the World Cup in Poznan and finished second behind the New Zealanders in Rotterdam. In the line-up of Leah Saunders, Jacinta Edmunds, Bronwyn Cox , Georgina Rowe, Rosemary Popa, Annabelle McIntyre, Jessica Morrison , Molly Goodman and James Rook, the Australians won silver at the World Championships in Linz / Ottensheim behind New Zealand and ahead of the boat from the United States .

Leah Saunders, who is about 1.78 m tall, is an occupational therapist for children and starts for the Sydney Rowing Club .
