Sholto Carnegie

Sholto Carnegie (born February 28, 1995 ) is a British rower . He was European champion in 2019.

Career

Carnegie was fifth in a double scull at the 2013 Junior World Championships . In 2014 he competed in the double foursome at the U23 World Championships and finished in 13th place. In 2016 he won the silver medal with the eighth at the U23 World Championships behind the boat from the Netherlands. At the U23 World Championships in 2017 he won silver again, this time in a four-man behind the Australians.

In 2019, the British four-man was reassembled without a helmsman. In the line-up of Oliver Cook , Matthew Rossiter , Rory Gibbs and Sholto Carnegie, the British won the European Championships in Lucerne ahead of the Poles and the Germans. In the World Cup , the British took fourth place in Poznan and second in Rotterdam. At the end of August at the World Championships in Linz, the Poles won ahead of the Romanians, behind them the British rowed the bronze medal.
